MIL-SPEC SYSTEM FUSING A MUZZLE BRAKE AND QD SUPPRESSOR
For Operators that need to tame heavy recoiling calibres both with the bare muzzle brake or with the PRS braked suppressor fitted over the top.
Intended Use
This system is designed to provide adaptability in professional precision rifle contexts allowing the operator to decide between reduced overall length or noise and flash suppression. With the Marksman PRS QD system the operator can easily adapt the rifle in seconds. The system can handle high pressure magnum cartridges such as 338LM and high heat from rapid strings of fire.
Design Features
- Stainless steel used in all components. The Suppressor is black Cerakoted and the muzzle brake is black Nitrited. Nitrite surface treatment makes the exposed brake extremely hard and durable thereby resisting wear and tear. The material selection prioritises durability and precision over lightweight.
- The muzzle brake features three large redirection baffles to drastically reduce recoil. The unit is attached to the rifle thread using a precision thread adaptor and timing (clocking) locknut (contra nut). When fitted and clocked, the gas is directed sideways only, eliminating excessive dust from under the muzzle.
- The muzzle brake first/rear chamber directs gas sideways and not rearwards; this shields the firer and reduces shockwave. The front two chambers redirect gas rearwards for maximum recoil reduction.
- The suppressor fits over the muzzle brake, containing it when attached. It has three expansion suppressor stages followed by a brake endcap.
- A proprietary thread is used to attach the suppressor to the muzzle brake in seconds with minimum screwing on. The system uses multiple referenced interface surfaces to ensure the suppressor attaches true, concentric and repeatably, every time.
- This unit is designed for any calibre up to large magnum calibres such as 338LM in a medium size and capacity. Send it.
- The suppressor is fixed length, it cannot be reduced in length.
- This product makes use of our Marksman thread adaptor. A range of threads are offered.
- See link below to add your thread adaptor, it is included in the price.
- The thread adaptor, lock nut and muzzle brake are designed for long term / permanent fixing on your rifle. The quick attach / detach function refers to the suppressor.
- Muzzle forward design, no overbarrel.
- Important note on reduction performance: Unique to A-Tec, our suppressors are tested to the latest MIL-STD-1474D military standard which is the most stringent and difficult standard to test to. Research shows our competitors do not test to this standard. For comparing to competitors products we prefer to let our reputation do the talking but you will observe our suppressors performing 5-10% better for a stated dB and significantly better for dB reduction vs. weight & length.
- A-Tec have only one grade of precision: Match Grade. A-Tec suppressors are second to none for concentricity, straightness and fine dimensional tolerances. This is especially evident in our bore apertures which are tight to the projectile to maximise sound reductive effect. To get peak performance from an A-Tec suppressor, one's rifle muzzle must be correctly crowned, threaded and shouldered.

MOUNTING THE A-TEC MARKSMAN BRAKE
Do a low torque dry run of the below steps before adding thread lock. Especially regarding the timing of the brake.
- Place the rifle in a vice.
- Thoroughly clean and degrease all components and threads.
- We will use the muzzlebrake and the contra nut (lock nut) to apply torque to the muzzle thread adaptor:
- Screw the stainless steel thread adaptor all the way into the muzzlebrake, and one full turn out again. The thread adaptor has the small unthreaded section inserted first. (When running through this the second time, after applying thread locker, wipe off any excess thread locker here).
- Screw on and torque up the black contra nut against the rear shoulder of the muzzlebrake with the supplied wrench. For barrels with larger diameter than 23mm at the shoulder: Ensure the rear face of the steel thread adaptor is slightly proud of the black contra nut, one thread is enough. This ensures the barrel thread shoulder meets the adaptor surface and not the contra nut.
- Now screw the muzzlebrake with the thread adaptor and contra nut on to the rifle muzzle thread.
- Grasp the muzzlebrake and apply torque to the muzzlebrake by hand so that the thread adaptor is tight on the muzzle thread shoulder. We are using the muzzlebrake locked on by the contra nut to get the thread adaptor torqued up on the muzzle thread shoulder.
- Grasp the muzzlebrake and loosen only the contra nut with the wrench without loosening the thread adaptor on the muzzle thread.
- Adjust the muzzlebrake rotation so the brake gas ports are directed horizontal. Try screwing on further first. If you hit the stop before achieving level, unscrew until level.
- Reapply torque to the contra nut while grasping the muzzlebrake to lock it in the level position.
- Now disassemble, apply thread locker to the internal thread of the muzzlebrake to secure the adaptor into the muzzlebrake when it cures. Do the above steps again to permanently attach. Use Loctite 263(red) or equivalent.
- Let the thread locker set before attempting detachment from the rifle.
- Apply grease to the threads on the external surface of the brake. This is to prevent the suppressor seizing onto the brake and the brake being unscrewed instead of the suppressor.
- Attach the suppressor over the brake. Ensure well greased.
